Women’s Head Coach: Melissa Lewis

Melissa Lewis is Gold Coast Waverider’s Women’s Head Coach. Melissa comes to us with great playing and coaching experience. She is currently coach of the Gold Coast U13s and U15s Girls Representative Teams, Coach of Southern Blaze Girls U15s Team, and Coach at the Female U17 QLD Rookie Challenge. Melissa is also working with Cricket Australia on a Female Coaching Project. She has been a coach in Gold Coast District Cricket Club since 2017. She is a Cricket Gold Coast Junior Board member, female rep cricket coordinator, Qld Cricket coach as well as coach, mentor, and manages the female junior cricket teams at the Dolphins.

Men's Head Coach: Peter Clifford

Peter is one of the best coaches that Queensland cricket has seen. This former Australian first-class cricketer started his career as a cricket coach in 1992. He has coached domestically and internationally and has worked with some of the world’s best cricketers. Cliffo’s first-class career spanned over almost a decade for NSW and then QLD with a highlight year of 919 runs in 12 matches including three centuries in 84/85. He has since forged a quality coaching reputation and took the Toombul District Cricket Club first grade side to a semi-final berth this season.

Men's U/19 Head Coach: Chris Swan

Chris Swan is U19 Head Coach for GCWR. He has served Gold Coast Cricket with some of the highest honors, including:


  • Inducted to Gold Coast Dolphins ‘Hall of Fame’ in 2018
  • He was a triple premiership-winning player for the Gold Coast Dolphins 1st. XI.
  • He has been a Surfers Paradise Cricket Club member since 1983.
  • Chris Played 54 games for QLD Bulls taking 132 wickets.


Chris is a Level 3 Coach and current Men’s Senior coach at the Gold Coast District Cricket Club. He has also been the bowling Coach for QLD Bulls and Brisbane Heat for two seasons.

Men's U1/7 Head Coach: Scott Day

Scott Day joined the GCWR crew as an U/17 Head Coach. He’s been involved in Gold Coast Cricket for the last 27 years as a player and coach of both Senior and Junior teams locally and representatively. He’s excited to take the reigns of our U/17 Men’s team for the BPL. Scott is looking for players who have great enthusiasm for learning, competing, and enjoying the T20 concept. He wants players who look to score runs, aim to take wickets, and field the house down supporting their teammates.
