Meet and Greet, Cap Presentations and Social Media Interviews
The auction night is an event that comprises a meeting of the minds and a love of the game with the climax of a pressure-ridden, heart-pumping, drama-driven auction of Queensland's best club cricketers. After the nomination closing date, the Gold Coast Waveriders will be strategically mapping picks from a list of applicants that have applied for auction. On auction night, each team will have a salary cap to stick to, therefore, must be aware of maxing out too soon. Equally, with some smart planning (and a bit of luck) we hope to sneak the steal of the night – a relatively unknown country player that turns into BPL brilliance.
A draft for the age groups; U/12s, U/13s, and U/15s will be hosted on Saturday, May 8th from 12:00pm to 4:00pm that allows the best young players in Western Queensland to put their names forward to be selected by the Waveriders. A talent scout will help make selections; they are sourced exclusively on their knowledge of the junior cricket landscape. Much like the AFL draft, a lottery determines the order in which owners get their selections. First drawn, first selection, and so on. The BPL will host the Junior Draft Day. This will be a family-friendly event that will be live-streamed. Once teams have been allocated and profile pictures have been taken, all junior members will sign their very own mock BPL contract; a moment that makes the event feel like part of the professional experience.
